What Features Matter in a Waterproof Waist Bag?

I’ve been looking into a waterproof waist bag for outdoor activities, travel, hiking, beach trips, and water sports. It seems like a convenient way to keep essentials such as a phone, keys, wallet, and cards close without carrying a larger backpack.

One thing I’ve learned is that the closure system is just as important as the material. Roll-top designs and sealed waterproof zippers can provide stronger protection, while the seams and belt attachment points also need to be properly constructed.

The right level of protection also depends on how the bag will be used. A bag for hiking in the rain may only need strong water resistance, while kayaking or swimming requires much stronger protection against immersion. Some waist packs are specifically designed for brief submersion, while others are intended only for rain and splashes.

For anyone who uses one, what features do you consider most important? Do you prioritize waterproofing, comfort, storage capacity, durability, or a secure adjustable belt?

I’d also be interested to hear which type works best for activities like hiking, swimming, kayaking, or beach trips.
