PS1 Emulation: A Few Things Worth Checking Before You Start

If you’re getting started with PS1 emulation, one of the first things worth understanding is the role of the BIOS. It can affect whether an emulator starts correctly and whether certain games behave as expected.

Another thing to check is the emulator configuration. Video settings, controller mapping, memory cards, and game compatibility can all make a difference, especially when moving between different devices.

I recently put together a reference covering the PS1 BIOS and some of the basic things to know when setting up an emulator visit here.

For anyone experimenting with PS1 emulation, understanding these basics can save quite a bit of troubleshooting later.
