How Useful Are Online Weight Loss Calculators for Setting Realistic Goals?

I’ve been looking into different ways to plan a realistic weight management routine and recently came across a Weight Loss Calculator. It caught my attention because these tools can provide an estimated daily calorie requirement based on factors such as age, height, current weight, activity level, and target weight.

I’m interested in understanding how people actually use these calculators in their daily routines. For example, if a calculator suggests a particular calorie intake for reaching a target weight, should that number be followed consistently, or is it better to use it as a general starting point and adjust based on actual progress?

Another thing I’m curious about is the estimated timeline. Some calculators provide an approximate number of weeks or months needed to reach a goal. Since everyone's lifestyle and activity levels are different, I assume actual progress can vary considerably from the initial calculation.

For those who have tried an online calculator, did you find it helpful for planning meals or setting exercise goals? Did you continue tracking your weight and measurements to see whether the original estimate was close to your actual results?

I’d also like to know whether people track other factors alongside their weight, such as daily steps, exercise, meal portions, sleep, or waist measurements. It seems like looking at several factors could provide a better picture of overall progress rather than relying on the scale alone.

What has been your experience with these calculators, and what advice would you give someone using one for the first time?
